Two more Post Office convictions quashed bringing the total to 47

The convictions of two further ‘Post Office’ applicants, Mrs Adedayo and Mr Kalia, have today been quashed at Southwark Crown Court.

Both applicants had pleaded guilty to offences in the magistrates’ court.

In allowing the appeals the judge adopted the findings of the Court of Appeal saying: “These appellants join those whose appeals have not been contested, their sentences have been served and we hope they can put this behind them. and get on with their lives without the shadow of their convictions and we therefore allow the appeals.”

This takes the total number of successful Post Office referrals to 47. One further referral to the Court of Appeal has yet to be heard and the CCRC currently has 23 further Post Office cases under review. Recent indications are that many people have lodged appeals directly with the Court of Appeal. The Post Office has also written to over 500 people whose convictions may be affected.
