Smith, Gordan

Published:

Gordon Smith was convicted on 30 June 2005 at Bournemouth Crown Court of making a false statutory declaration and was fined £500.

The conviction related to a statement on a form in respect of a penalty charge for an unpaid parking ticket.

On 3 February 2006, the Full Court rejected Mr Smith’s appeal against his conviction.

Mr Smith applied to the CCRC for a review of his conviction in August 2006.

The CCRC decided to refer the conviction to the Court of Appeal having considered all the circumstances of the case, including issues about the statement in question and its scope.

The CCRC referred the conviction in August 2007.

The Court of Appeal upheld the conviction in December 2007.
