Robery, Raymond

Published:

Raymond Robery was convicted in April 1997 of robbery and received a sentence of four and a half years’ detention.

The CCRC received an application for review of Mr Robery’s sentence in October 1997.

Following review, the CCRC concluded that the sentence may have been excessive.

The guideline cases indicated a tariff of two to five years and all the specifics of the case pointed to a sentence closer to the bottom of the tariff. Mr Robery had received an apparently exemplary sentence.

The CCRC referred the sentence in February 1999.

The Court of Appeal upheld the sentence in May 1999.
