Pinfold, Terence

Published:

Terence Pinfold was convicted in January 1978 of three counts of robbery and two counts of possession of firearms with intent. Mr Pinfold received a sentence of ten years’ imprisonment.

In March 1981, two of robbery convictions and both firearms convictions were quashed by the Court of Appeal.

The CCRC received an application for review of the remaining robbery conviction in May 2006.

Following review, the CCRC concluded that there was new, previously undisclosed, evidence and argument which seriously undermined the strength of witness identification evidence given at trial.

In addition, the CCRC considered that an admission to the robbery could not be considered reliable, partly on the basis of new evidence concerning the character of one of the investigating police officers.

The CCRC referred the conviction in September 2008.

The Court of Appeal upheld the conviction in October 2009.
