Murray, Vincent
Vincent Murray was convicted in July 2003 at Leeds Crown Court of wounding with intent. Mr Murray received a sentence of seven years’ imprisonment plus five months in respect of breach of an early release licence.
In November 2003 Mr Murray appealed against both sentences but was refused leave by a Single Judge and then the Full Court.
The CCRC received an application for review of the sentence in March 2005.
Following review, the CCRC concluded that the sentencing judge had failed to properly credit Mr Murray for time served after he was administratively recalled to prison due to breach of licence, having previously been released on licence before completing the sentence for an earlier offence.
The CCRC referred the sentence in November 2005.
The Court of Appeal reduced the sentence in February 2006.
