Mr DU

Published:

Mr DU was convicted in February 2009 of sexual assault and received a sentence of 18 months’ imprisonment.

The CCRC received an application for review of the conviction in December 2010.

During review, the CCRC obtained new sensitive evidence that the CCRC considered significantly undermined the credibility of the complainant.

As the credibility of the complainant was a key issue at trial, this new evidence raised a real possibility that the Court of Appeal would quash the conviction.

The CCRC referred the conviction in February 2013.

The Court of Appeal upheld the conviction in March 2014.
