Mr DO
Mr DO was convicted in April 2006 of rape and received a sentence of life imprisonment.
Mr DO pleaded not guilty to three offences in 2006. He was acquitted of one count of causing actual bodily harm but was convicted of two counts of rape against the same person.
Later that year he was refused leave to appeal against the conviction.
Having reviewed the case, the CCRC considered that new evidence about the credibility of a key witness, and new scientific evidence relating to the interpretation of the results of the testing of DNA samples found on the defendant, raised a real possibility that the court would quash the conviction.
The CCRC referred the conviction in February 2012.
The Court of Appeal upheld the conviction in November 2012.
