Mr CU

Published:

Mr CU was convicted in May 1983 of rape, wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, robbery, and five counts of indecent assault. Mr CU received a sentence of life imprisonment.

The CCRC received an application for review of Mr CU’s sentence in June 2008.

Following review, the CCRC concluded that new medical evidence supported the proposition that Mr CU’s sentence ought properly to have been a hospital order under Section 37 of the Mental Health Act together with a restriction order under section 41 of the same Act.

The CCRC referred the sentence in July 2009.

The appeal was abandoned in February 2011.
