Mr BQ
Mr BQ was convicted in December 2002 of indecent assault and attempted indecent assault. Mr BQ received a sentence of nine months’ imprisonment suspended for two years and was ordered to register on the sex offenders’ register for seven years.
The CCRC received an application for review of the conviction in January 2004.
During review, the CCRC obtained new material from social services files on the complainant.
This material had not been disclosed to the defence at trial and it tended to assist the defence whilst undermining the prosecution’s case due, in particular, to inconsistencies in the accounts of key witnesses for the prosecution.
The CCRC referred the conviction in September 2006.
The appeal was later abandoned.
