Leslie, James

Published:

Leslie James was convicted in February 1980 of the murder of his wife and received a sentence of life imprisonment.

The CCRC received an application for review of the conviction in May 2002.

During review, the CCRC obtained new expert psychiatric evidence which, following a change in legal approach in 2001, would have supported a defence of provocation and/or diminished responsibility at trial.

The CCRC referred the conviction in September 2004.

The Court of Appeal upheld the conviction in December 2005.
