Kielbowicz, Maciej

Published:

Maciej Kielbowicz was convicted in June 2014 of wounding with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and common assault. Mr Kielbowicz received a sentence of seven and a half years’ imprisonment.

The CCRC received an application for review of the sentence in July 2015.

Following review, the CCRC concluded there was a real possibility that the Court of Appeal would correct a legal error which had occurred during Mr Kielbowicz’s sentencing, and deduct 160 days from his sentence.

When Mr Kielbowicz was sentenced, he should have been given credit for time spent on tagged bail with a qualifying curfew.

The CCRC referred the sentence in October 2016.

The Court of Appeal reduced the sentence in November 2016.
