Hawkes, Anthony

Published:

Anthony Hawkes was convicted in October 2007 of murder and received a sentence of life imprisonment with a minimum term of 16 years.

The CCRC received an application for review of Mr Hawkes’ sentence in August 2017.

Following review, the CCRC concluded that the sentencing judge had failed to give full credit to Mr Hawkes when passing sentence for time he had spent in custody on remand.

The CCRC referred the sentence in October 2018.

The Court of Appeal reduced the sentence in February 2019.
