Davis, George
George Davis was convicted in March 1975 of robbery and wounding with intent to resist arrest. Mr Davis received a sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment.
The CCRC received an application for review of the conviction in September 2007.
Following review, the CCRC concluded that there had been non-disclosure to the defence and court of information which had the potential to assist the defence and/or undermine the prosecution’s case.
The CCRC also considered that fresh evidence affecting the identification evidence of two policemen might lead the court to conclude that the identification evidence was unreliable.
The CCRC referred the conviction in October 2010.
The Court of Appeal quashed the conviction in May 2011.
