Calvert, Lee

Published:

Lee Calvert was convicted of murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life following a trial at Bradford Crown Court in June 2014.

He was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 36 years, which was later reduced to 32 years on appeal.

The CCRC received an application for review of the conviction in July 2022.

During review, the CCRC obtained new evidence that impacted the credibility of a witness at trial.

This raised a real possibility that the Court of Appeal would overturn Mr Calvert’s conviction.

The CCRC referred the conviction in October 2023.
