Calder, Terence

Terence Calder was convicted in February 2009 of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm and received an extended sentence of eight years and eight months’ imprisonment, comprising of a custodial term of five years and eight months, and a licence extension period of three years.

The CCRC received an application for review of Mr Calder’s sentence in March 2011.

During sentencing, a miscalculation had been made when applying the number of days by which the term of imprisonment should have been reduced under section 240 of the Criminal Justice Act 2003.

The Crown indicated to the CCRC that it had no objection to the appropriate variation being made.

The CCRC referred the sentence in March 2011.

The Court of Appeal reduced the sentence in March 2011.
