Noye, Kenneth
Kenneth Noye was convicted in April 2000 of murder and received a sentence of life imprisonment.
The CCRC received an application for review of the conviction in August 2003.
During review, the CCRC obtained fresh expert pathological evidence that was capable of significantly undermining the credibility of the trial pathologist’s evidence.
This new evidence criticised the conduct of the post-mortem examination of the victim and the trial pathologist’s interpretation of his findings.
The CCRC considered that there was a real possibility the Court of Appeal would find that expert evidence presented at trial had been fundamentally flawed and could no longer safely be relied upon.
The CCRC referred the conviction in October 2010.
The Court of Appeal upheld the conviction in March 2011.
