Bowser, Clive

Published:

Clive Bowser was convicted in August 2005 of arson being reckless as to the endangerment of life, intimidation, theft, affray, possession of an offensive weapon, and criminal damage.

Mr Bowser received a sentence of three years’ imprisonment with a further indeterminate licence period (reduced on appeal to two years’ imprisonment with a further indeterminate licence period).

The CCRC received an application for review of Mr Bowser’s sentence in May 2007.

Following review, the CCRC concluded that the sentencing judge had failed to credit Mr Bowser with time spent on remand.

The CCRC referred the sentence in August 2007.

The Court of Appeal reduced the sentence in January 2008.
