Shrimpton, Shane

Published:

Shane Shrimpton was convicted in October 1993 of conspiracy to import herbal cannabis and being knowingly concerned in the importation of cannabis.

Mr Shrimpton received a sentence of ten years’ imprisonment and a confiscation order in the sum of £1,026,246.02 with six years’ imprisonment in default.

The CCRC received an application for review of Mr Shrimpton’s confiscation order in January 1998.

Mr Shrimpton provided new information which, if believed by the court, would have considerably reduced the amount to be assessed against him both as proceeds from crime and as realisable assets available for confiscation.

The CCRC referred the confiscation order in September 1999.

Mr Shrimpton later abandoned his appeal.
